Ds. Delion et Rj. Liotta, MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION OF ALPHA-DECAY FROM SUPERDEFORMED NUCLEI, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 58(4), 1998, pp. 2073-2080
A microscopic formalism to treat ct decay from superdeformed nuclei is
given within the;framework of the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approximati
on. The process of penetration through the deformed barrier is describ
ed exactly. The influence of the deformation on the formation amplitud
e and on the penetrability is analyzed. It is found that the results o
f the WKB approximation differ strongly from the exact ones as the def
ormation increases for beta(2) larger than 0.3. The most favorable cas
e that we found corresponds to a superdeformed band in Pb-192, for whi
ch the a decay probability is very large, making this a likely mechani
sm to feed the daughter nucleus Hg-188. [S0556-2813(98)02010-X].
