J. Kiener et al., GAMMA-RAY PRODUCTION BY INELASTIC PROTON-SCATTERING ON O-16 AND C-12, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 58(4), 1998, pp. 2174-2179
Excitation functions for the production of the 2.74, 6.13, 6.92, and 7
.12 MeV gamma rays by inelastic proton scattering on O-16 have been me
asured in steps of 200-500 keV for proton energies E-p = 8.4-20 MeV. F
or the 4.44 MeV gamma rays of C-12 produced by inelastic proton scatte
ring on C-12 data have been obtained for proton energies E-p = 8.4-14
MeV and at E-p = 17.25, 18.25, and 19.75 MeV. Eight high efficiency Ge
detectors with anti-Compton shielding for the gamma-ray detection wer
e used to obtain the laboratory gamma-angular distributions. The resul
ts of Legendre polynom fits to these distributions are discussed and p
resented in suitable form for use in gamma-ray astronomy. [S0556-2813(
