MALIGNANT MESENCHYMOMA ARISING IN AN INCISIONAL SCAR OF THE ABDOMINAL-WALL

A case of malignant mesenchymoma of the anterior abdominal mall, compo sed of leiomyosarcoma, chondrosarcoma and osteosarcoma is described. T he tumour, arising in the old scar of a previous operation, was comple tely removed surgically. Eleven months after the operation the patient is well with no evidence of recurrence. There have been no previous r eports of malignant mesenchymoma developing in operation scars. Ne bel ieve that this traumatic factor played a significant role in the aetio logy of this rare soft-tissue neoplasm.
