X-ray observations of GX 5-1 carried out with the coded-mask camera TT
M are presented. The results consist of a sample of measurements in th
e energy range 2-30 keV extending over a period of almost one year, fr
om October 21, 1988 to September 5, 1989. Our results confirm some of
the general features of the X-ray spectral behavior of GX 5-1 on times
cales of days to months as observed by other instruments. Statistical
tests on our data indicate that there are significant deviations from
a homogeneous data point density in the hardness-intensity diagram of
GX 5-1, which are probably due to changing timescales of spectral vari
ations. The physical background of these deviations is briefly discuss
ed.
