In this paper we examine a novel procedure to estimate non-minimum pha
se wavelets using the cepstrum of high-order cumulants. When the refle
ctivity consists of a non-Gaussian process, the cepstrum of the wavele
t can be computed from the cepstrum of a higher-order cumulant which i
s estimated from the seismic trace. The technique provides an unifying
thread between homomorphic system processing and the more recent cumu
lant-based techniques. Synthetic and real data examples are used to il
lustrate the applicability of the method for wavelet estimation.
