Abstract
We draw and quantitatively support a parallel between conductance fluc tuations in one-dimensional disordered solids and fluctuations of life times of hydrogen atoms in microwave fields. In particular, we numeric ally analyze the statistics of scaled atomic resonance widths in the l ocalized regime and we find a lognormal distribution, quantitatively c onsistent with the theory of Anderson localization.
