The state-of-the-art of optical correlation diagnostics of random phas
e objects is considered both in the framework of conventional notions
of the theory of probability and using the concepts of chaotic oscilla
tions theory. A promising fractal approach for the object structure di
agnostics is discussed. In particular, the possibility of estimation o
f the Canter fractal's dimensions through measurement of a correlation
dimension of complexity at the diffracted optical field is shown. Thi
s possibility is realized using an original technique for the measurem
ent of a complexity at optical fields.
