Abstract
The transition from the transmission to the reflection regime for an A r+-laser beam propagating in the new polymeric blend PMMA-EVA at a non linear interface has been observed. A comparison between the experimen tal data and a calculation of the input optical intensity at which thi s transition should occur (1.45 x 10(7) W m-2) is presented using Kapl an's theory. The results suggest the presence of thermally induced opt ical bistability in PMMA-EVA.
