Le fortificazioni di età ellenistica di Cuka e Aitoit (Epiro)

Although archaeological research was definitely undertaken in Cuka e Aitot, the site continues to remain nearly unknown: The Italian Archaeological Mission (1929), followed by the Soviet-Albanian Mission (1958-9) and finally by the Albanian Archaeological Institute (1978-9), have documented and partially excavated this ancient site, although thwy published nothing about their findings. Moreover documenatation in various archives has remained untouched. Its recovery, followed by new investigations and new field surveys, carried out by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Phoinike in cooperation with the Tirana Archaeological Institute, have enabled re-examination of the Hellenistic walls in Cuka e Aitot and the surrounding territory.
