I. Boscolo et I. Fabbri, A TUNABLE BRAGG CAVITY FOR AN EFFICIENT MILLIMETER FEL DRIVEN BY ELECTROSTATIC ACCELERATORS, Applied physics. B, Photophysics and laser chemistry, 57(3), 1993, pp. 217-225
A comparison between three possible cavity configurations, the confoca
l cavity, the ring cavity and the Bragg cavity is presented for a mill
imeter FEL set within the high voltage head of an electrostatic accele
rator. A simple mechnical design to make the Bragg cavity tunable is p
roposed. The usual theory of the sinusoidal Bragg corrugation, in cyli
ndrical geometry, is extended to the rectangular corrugation and, furt
her, the theory of the Bragg mirror is extended to rectangular geometr
y. The features of a Bragg mirror in cylindrical and rectangular geome
try are compared.
