Abstract
The effect of low cycle fatigue (LCF) on the subsequent high cycle fat igue (HCF) life of a 316L steel was investigated. A spectacular increa se of HCF life following a certain number of LCF cycles is reported. A further increase in the number of LCF cycles leads to a drop in HCF l ife. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
