The time component of the Sigma term in pion electroproduction is show
n to represent the charged pseudo-scalar quark-density distribution on
the nucleon and to manifest itself in the L-0(+) amplitude. In additi
on, the sum of this time component of the Sigma term and the induced p
seudo-scalar term in the axial current appear as the t-channel pion po
le in the Born terms for pion electroproduction near threshold.
