Abstract
Sensitivity to the perturbation in the initial condition of a model of impact fracture is observed. Numerical simulations show that the smal l perturbation in the initial condition is expanded following a power law by the dynamics of the model. The propagation of the effect of the perturbation inside a fractured object during the crack propagation i s discussed. [S1063-651X(98)03810-0].
