Abstract
Magnetic and electrical Freedericksz measurements were performed on th e second generation monodendritic liquid crystal G(2)(OH). The deduced elastic constants were found to be exceptionally anisotropic: the spl ay elastic constant K-11 is more than an order of magnitude larger tha n the bend elastic constant K-33, and the twist constant K-22 is appro ximately twice K-33. The results are discussed in terms of molecular c onformations.
