Abstract
One can learn a lot about the later years of a person's life by examin ing his or her medical records. In the case of Charles Babbage, his re putation as ''an irascible genius'' can be understood much better if o ne knows that he suffered a number of physical ailments. In an attempt to shed some further light on the later life of this man, we present some of the medical reports produced after his death.
