DIFFUSE-SCATTERING FROM PENTAGONAL QUASI-CRYSTALS

Explicit formulae for thermal diffuse scattering from pentagonal quasi crystals have been derived in terms of elastic constants. Isointensity contours of diffuse scattering are illustrated. Unlike ordinary cryst als, shapes of isointensity contours are much more complicated and var y even among the collinear Bragg spots. Information about elastic cons tants can be extracted from a quantitative analysis of diffuse scatter ing patterns. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
