Abstract
We discuss the use of preconditioning in Krylov-W-methods. The precond itioning is based on different operator splitting schemes for reaction -diffusion problems. Comparison of various Krylov codes show that the preconditioned version of ROWMAP works efficient and reliable, especia lly for large dimensions. Furthermore, parallelism can easily be explo ited in the preconditioning. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier B.V. and I MACS. All rights reserved.
