Abstract
Using internal matching, the problem of certain uniformly loaded compl ex symmetrical plates is reduced to solving the biharmonic in a rectan gular region with mixed boundary conditions. The method is efficient a nd accurate. The simply-supported L and + shaped plates are studied in detail. The results show a weak stress singularity at the concave cor ner and maximum deflections may reach 4 times that of a strip with the same width. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
