We describe a modified Hamilton microsyringe that allows extracellular
recording of neuronal activity and subsequent injections. It is assem
bled with a Hamilton removable needle and a syringe for injection, a T
eflon-coated tungsten wire for recording, and polyimide tubing as a sh
eath. The device is inexpensive and easy to handle in anatomical and p
hysiological experiments in awake monkeys. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science I
