Abstract
Silico-manganese alloys are used in steel-making for grading purpose a nd should respect constraints on contents in some tramp elements, in p articular titanium. The object of this study is to investigate the lim its of Ti removal from industrial alloys by precipitation and floatati on of titanium carbides. The effect of alloy composition and treatment temperature have been determined from laboratory experiments and a th ermodynamic analysis based in part on the ''Central Atoms'' model.
