D. Vandusschoten et al., SPATIALLY-RESOLVED TRANSPORT-PROPERTIES IN RADIALLY COMPRESSED BEAD PACKINGS STUDIES BY PFG NMR, Magnetic resonance imaging, 16(5-6), 1998, pp. 703-706
Pulsed field gradient (PFG) multi-echo (ME) and turbo spin-echo (TSE)
imaging is used to study dispersive flow in radially compressed chroma
tographic columns packed with porous silica beads. By using the pulsed
field gradient turbo spin-echo sequence spatially resolved displaceme
nt imaging can be accelerated by a factor of 16, The positive effect o
f homogeneous radial packing on how velocity and dispersion is demonst
rated. Small heterogeneities of only a few percent are shown to cause
changes of the dispersion coefficient of up to 50%. (C) 1998 Elsevier
