The article analyses the new Italian"Unified Text on Privacy"or"Privacy Code"drafted in application of law 127/2001."The Code"will begin to be applied on 01 January 2004,replacing Law 675/1996.The Author describes the Code main points of strength,by higlighting the evolution of law and regulations on privacy at both Italian and European level.In particular,whilst law 675 avoided to define the "minimal security measures",leaving them to the following DPR(decree of the President of the Republic)318/99,the Code settles the adoption of the minimal security measures under Title 2.It is Title 5(articles 31-36)which sets out the minimum measures of protection required to avert the risks of data loss or destruction as well as of illegal and forbidden data treatment.
