Joi. Jorgensen, HARD END-POINTS FOR GH REPLACEMENT THERAPY - REPORT FROM AN INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION OF BONE STATUS AND CARDIOVASCULAR FUNCTION IN GH-DEFICIENT ADULTS, Growth hormone & IGF research, 8, 1998, pp. 63-67
To stimulate debate and promote interaction between the audience and s
peakers, an interactive session entitled ''Controversies in GH Replace
ment Therapy'' was held at the 4th International hGH Symposium on GH D
eficiency in Adults in September 1997 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The audi
ence was asked to vote ''yes'' or ''no'' to a number of questions pert
aining to the effects of growth hormone (GH) substitution in GH defici
ency in adults on bone and cardiovascular function, respectively. This
was followed by ''pro'' and ''con'' presentations on GH after which t
he audience gave their second and final vote (answer) to the initial q
uestions. The designated ''pro'' and ''con'' speakers were selected on
the basis of their scientific contributions within the relevant field
rather than their personal beliefs. This is a report of the interacti
ve session. (C) 1998 Churchill Livingstone.
