MONOTERPENOID GLYCOSIDES OF GLEHNIA-LITTORALIS ROOT AND RHIZOMA

From the methanolic extract of the root and rhizoma of Glehnia littora lis FR. SCHMIDT ex MIQ. (Umbelliferae, Hamabofu in Japanese), five new monoterpenoid glycosides were isolated together with (+)- and (-)-ang elicoidenol 2-O-beta-D-glucopyranosides. Based on the results of spect ral investigation, they were characterized as (-)angelicoidenol eta-D- apiofuranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2R, 6S)-bornane-2,6-diol ta-D-apiofuranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside, (2R)-bornane-2,9-d iol ta-D-apiofuranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside, and (4R)- and ( 4S)-p-menth-1-ene-7,8-diol a-D-apiofuranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyran osides, respectively.
