Abstract
A survey of bleach plant washing practices in Canadian kraft mills was conducted in 1995. Washing practices in both oxygen delignification a nd the breach plant are detailed. Estimated bleach Plant effluent flow s for Canadian mills surveyed were between 12 and 70 m(3)/adt with a m edian value of 28.4 m(3)/adt Mills have used techniques such as runnin g higher vat consistencies to operate bleach plant washers above desig n capacity. The survey also indicates there is an opportunity for impr ovement in the area of bleach plant washer control.
