WE report an investigation into the processing of symmetrical lexical
stimuli by a patient with moderate visual neglect. This subject's negl
ect dyslexia was significantly less pronounced when presented with sym
metrical lexical stimuli (palindromes) than with matched non-symmetric
al words. We discuss the hypothesis that symmetry facilitates processi
