Abstract
We present simulations of final-transport systems based on laser-initi ated Z-discharge channels. The systems consist of several beams transp orted in quadrupole-channel arrays aiming at an adiabatic plasma lens, where they are combined, focused, and transported to the target throu gh a laser-initiated discharge channel. Details of the magnetic-quadru pole beamlines and their interface with the plasma channel are shown. We also present preliminary hydrodynamic calculations to model pinchin g and current build-up in the laser-initiated discharge. (C) 1998 Else vier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
