Abstract
The linac emittance and current are limiting factors for the phase- sp ace density and ion beam current for the multiturn injection into the storage ring of a HIIF driver. Chopping and Funneling sections shape t he beam to match the beam to the storage rings. A system is described, which can double the effective ion current of the linac and the bunch charge in the storage ring without changing the basic linac parameter s by an additional funneling stage.
