2D Particle-In-Cell (PIC) computer simulations of a 20 turn stacking w
ith a corner septum in the Heavy Ion Driven Ignition Facility (HIDIF)
scheme with a space charge dominated 400 mA linac beam reveal that the
losses are of the order of 15% and the increase in emittance is about
15-20-fold. The phase-space dilution factor is 2.8 without space char
ge and 5 with space charge. Debunching of a train of micropulses is st
