Gk. Nicolussi et al., STRONTIUM ISOTOPIC COMPOSITION IN INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTELLAR SILICON-CARBIDE GRAINS - A RECORD OF S-PROCESS NUCLEOSYNTHESIS, Physical review letters, 81(17), 1998, pp. 3583-3586
Twenty six individual circumstellar SIC grains extracted from the Murc
hison meteorite were analyzed for their strontium isotopic composition
s by resonant ionization mass spectrometry. Large abundance deficits w
ere found for the p-process isotope Sr-84. The measured grains had Sr-
87/Sr-86 ratios indistinguishable from the primordial solar value, but
several grains differed in their Sr-88/Sr-86 ratios as a consequence
of the branch point at Kr-85. The Sr isotopic data are consistent with
s-process nucleosynthesis at moderate neutron densities. [S0031-9007(
