Abstract
The dimerization of the famous Haldane gap Ni2+ chain compound with ni tro-nitrito bridges (abbreviated as NENP by the physicists) has been a chieved by involving two monoanions in the structure. One of these ani ons, [Ln(NO3)(4)(CH3OH)(2)](-), with Ln = lanthanide element or Y, is unprecedented.
