Optical properties of a ZnSe/MgS superlattice (SL) were studied by ref
lection and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. Excitonic structure
s were clearly observed in the reflection spectra up to room temperatu
re, and the exciton absorption peak energy and linewidth were well coi
ncident with the PL peak energy and linewidth. The origin of the lowes
t luminescence peak was indicated to be Cl-HH1 exciton up to room temp
erature. The lineshape broadening due to longitudinal-optical-phonon s
cattering of excitons is much decreased in this SL compared to bulk Zn
