P. Mieth et al., AN ENVIRONMENT SIMULATION AND MONITORING-SYSTEM FOR URBAN AREAS, Transactions of the Society for Computer Simulation, 15(3), 1998, pp. 115-121
A prototype of an environmental simulation and monitoring system for u
rban areas has been developed. This system provides state-of-the-art a
ir and water pollution calculation and analysis tools. A distributed c
lient-sewer architecture based on the Internet has been chosen to allo
w authorities to run large models requiring HPC hardware on remote mod
el sewers. The main focus of this paper is the description of a model
designed for the computation of the extra ozone production in urban ar
eas and for short-term ozone forecast purposes. Within the framework o
f an integrated simulation and monitoring system, this model benefits
from the easy exchange of modeled and monitored data. Automatic interf
aces to monitoring nets allow an operational use of the model.
