Hj. Sanchez et Ca. Perez, CALCULATION OF CAPILLARY PARAMETERS FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF X-RAYMICROBEAMS, Journal of trace and microprobe techniques, 16(4), 1998, pp. 501-512
In this work, parameters such as transmission efficiency and intensity
gain are calculated for different energies, geometrical shapes and ca
pillary dimensions. These parameters are obtained by using a mathemati
cal model which calculates photon transport along these devices. The m
odel assumes the usage of a monochromatic radiation source with simila
r characteristics to those of synchrotron light, that is, a very small
source with a low angular divergence. Due to the cylindrical symmetry
presented by the problem, the mathematical description of the capilla
ries is a two-dimensional model represented by two curves which determ
ine the capillary profile. In this work we have adopted the mathematic
al representation of the capillary profiles by means of straight segme
nts which simulate the theoretical curve of the profile. The results o
btained show interesting characteristics and are in good agreement wit
h the models proposed by other authors.
