A. Arena et al., STUDY OF A NEW ORGANIC SEMICONDUCTOR-BASED ON TCNQ AND OF ITS JUNCTION WITH DOPED SILICON (TCNQ = 7,7',8,8' TETRACYANOQUINODIMETHANE), Nuovo cimento della Societa italiana di fisica. D, Condensed matter, atomic, molecular and chemical physics, biophysics, 20(7-8), 1998, pp. 907-913
The spectroscopic properties of Ag-phen-TCNQ, a new organic semiconduc
tor obtained by means of a charge transfer reaction involving silver a
s the electron donor, TCNQ as the acceptor and the etero-aromatic liga
nd 1,10 phenanthroline (phen), are investigated by means of absorption
measurements in the IR-VIS-UV range and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrosc
opy (XPS). The charge distribution on TCNQ is examined and compared wi
th that of AgTCNQ. The results indicate that the presence of phenanthr
oline lowers the electronic gap of the semiconductor enhancing its ele
ctrical conductivity with respect to that of AgTCNQ. The good electric
al features and the film-forming properties of Ag-phen-TCNQ are used t
o obtain an inorganic-organic heterojunction whose I/V characteristics
are examined.
