Abstract
Experiments to determine the relative growth and fitness of herbicide- resistant and susceptible weeds commonly include only a single populat ion of each. It is argued that such limited experimental designs can b e misleading and should be avoided. Guidelines are given to aid decisi ons on choice of number of populations.
