In acidic solution containing CH3COCH3 or CH3CN, Mo(VI) reacted direct
ly with SeO32- to form the previously unknown heteropoly anion, [(SeO3
)(2)Mo15O45](4-), which was subsequently [(SeO3)(2)Mo12O36](4-) anion.
Similar formation and transformation processes were: also found for a
Mo(VI)-TeO32--HCl-CH3COCH3 or CH3CN system. Their formation condition
s were elucidated by a combined Raman and voltammetric study. The [(Se
O3)(2)Mo12O36](4-) and [(TeO3)(2)Mo12O36](4-) anions were also formed
in aqueous acidic solution containing Mo(VI) and SeO32- or TeO32-. (C)
