Lc. Block et al., PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF WEDELIA-PALUDOSA DC. (COMPOSITAE), Die Pharmazie, 53(10), 1998, pp. 716-718
This study demonstrates the chromatographic profile and antinociceptiv
e action of methanolic extracts obtained from different parts of Wedel
ia paludosa, a medicinal plant employed in folk medicine to treat dolo
rous processes. The results indicated that the root was the most paten
t part whereas the flower exhibited a weak antinociceptive activity. C
omparative ac suggested that all extracts show different constituents
or concentrations. Kaurenoic acid and stigmasterol were detected in al
l extracts and luteolin is present only in leaves and stems, but in sm
all quantities. These results confirm our previous investigation on th
is plant and support its popular use for the treatment of algesic proc
esses.
