Phytochemical studies on the roots of Calotropis gigantea resulted in
the isolation of four new ursane-type triterpenoids. Their structures
have been established as urs-18 alpha-H-6(7), 12, 20(30)-triene-3 alph
a-yl acetate, urs-18 alpha-H-12, 20(30)-diene-3 alpha-yl acetate, urs-
18 alpha-H-12, 20(30)-diene 7 alpha-yl acetate and urs-18 beta-H-20(30
)-ene-12 beta-yl acetate on the basis of the spectroscopic techniques
and chemical means.
