Phage T4 site-specific endonuclease SegE cleaves dsDNA with formation
of 2-nt 3'-protruding ends. The minimal recognized sequence is asymmet
rical: positions -1 to +17 (+19) relative to the cleavage point center
. The SegE recognition site is highly degenerate, and cannot be unambi
guously predicted from the DNA primary structure.
