The successful separation of tosylated polyamines putrecine (PUT), cad
averine (CAD) spermidine (SPD) and spermine (SPM) by high-performance
capillary zone electrophoresis in an uncoated fused-silica capillary i
s reported. The optimum conditions for obtaining the resolution betwee
n PUT and CAD was 5 mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 2.2) containing 0.8
7 mM SPD as an electroosmotic flow modifier, with a gradient voltage t
hat starts at 10 kV and then jumps to 30 kV in different steps. The us
e of different injection volumes is also discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier
