Abstract
Circular convective pin fins of trapezoidal profile are analyzed. The results are presented in a manner which is more useful than the conven tional efficiency graphs given in the textbooks and handbooks. The sol ution of the optimal problem can be used to determine the optimum heat dissipation or volume and optimum dimensions of the pin fin. Performa nce of the pin fins for off-optimum conditions is also discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
