The essay deals with the work of one of the most complex of Italian jurists, Franco Cordero. Author of a well-known treaty of criminal procedure, as well as of a four-volume reconstruction of the life of Girolamo Savonarola, essayist, novelist and commentator of St. Paul's Letter to the Romans, Cordero - at present a professor at Rome University - has elaborated an epistemological approach to legal experience based on the concept of "play", in both the theoretical and the juridical dimension. The aim of the essay is, then, to show how feeling, play/bet and law contribute to the welfare of the community of the Observants, as Cordero terms it in one of his most impressive works in the field of legal philosophy.
