Abstract
The radiation from an electron bunch in flight over a periodic structu re of an arbitrary profile has been considered. Conditions are specifi ed under which the overall radiation essentially exceeds the incoheren t part. It is shown that the radiation from the bunch with asymmetric density distribution of electrons in the longitudinal direction is par tially coherent for waves with wavelengths much shorter than the chara cteristic longitudinal size of the bunch.
