A reversed-phase HPLC procedure with enzyme mediated postcolumn deriva
tization and fluorescence detection has been developed for the simulta
neous analysis of organic peroxides such as 1-((1-hydroperoxycyclohexy
l)-dioxy)-cyclohexanol (HDC), t-butyl hydroperoxide (BHP) and cumene h
ydroperoxide (CHP), as well as hydrogen peroxide. The detection limits
are 6.0 ng for H2O2, 0.15 mu g for HDC, 3.7 mu g for BHP and 7.0 mu g
for CHP respectively. Detection limits may be enhanced by preadsorpti
on of the organic peroxides on a mixture of XAD-4 and XAD-8 resins wit
h methanol elution. The method was used to detect a metastable peroxid
e intermediate from the ozonation of hexadeca-9-enoic acid. (C) 1998 E
