A method based on frustrated total internal reflection spectroscopy is
proposed for the rapid monitoring of the refractive index of internal
-reflection elements made from thermoplastic glasses. It is shown that
the refractive index of such internal-reflection elements must be mon
itored by quantitatively studying solid-phase objects with a nonflat m
