The Internet is becoming a ubiquitous strategic and tactical communica
tions medium for marketing, advertising, public relations, and interna
l communications on a global scale. It is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-we
ek, 52-week-a-year technology that transcends and breaks down various
barriers. The Internet provides several basic services, many of which
are valuable to professional associations as they communicate and cond
uct business with their members. As these services and capabilities ev
olve, the Internet will assume an even greater role in the business tr
ansactions. This paper presents a discussion about the role of the Int
ernet and its concomitant capabilities as they relate to association c
ommunication.
