This paper presents a reactive power optimization model that is based
on successive quadratic programming (SQP) methods. Mathematical formul
ation and unified algorithm suppose different objective functions (OF)
of reactive power optimization, depending on type and purposes of cur
rent reactive power control or planning problem. A bicriterion reactiv
e power optimization model, that represents compromise between economi
cal and security objective functions, is proposed. An efficient algori
thm for approximation of initial problem by quadratic programming prob
lem is described. Quadratic programming problem (QP) is solved on base
of Newton type quadratic programming method. Modified successive quad
ratic programming method was developed, that provide reliable converge
nce of SQP method.
