Abstract
The three-dimensional network structure of the title compound (arsenic caesium vanadium oxide) comprises VO5 pyramids and (As,V)(2)O-7 group s sharing corners to form puckered layers. The layers are linked to ea ch other by chains of VO6 octahedra. The framework exhibits large tunn els parallel to the b axis interconnected with other smaller tunnels w hich are parallel to the c axis. The Cs+ ions are located at the inter sections of these tunnels. Cs2V3(As0.635V0.365)(4)O-17 is isostructura l with Cs2V3P4O17 [Lii et al. (1989). J. Solid State Chem. 80, 127-132 ].
