Abstract
In a patient with pulmonary emboli, transesophageal echocardiography s howed a thrombus straddling the foramen ovale (impending paradoxical e mbolism). Proximal pulmonary emboli were visualized by spiral computed tomography and subsequent surgical treatment, consisting of removal o f intracardiac clot, closure of the open foramen ovale and pulmonary e mbolectomy, was successful.
